Regarding Fires In Florida
May. 13th, 2008 06:19 pmBrevard County is the part of Florida I'm originally from. Palm Bay and Port Malabar are familiar places. It always startles me to hear a city from Brevard mentioned on TV, particularly if it isn't "News of the Weird" or a feature on "Cops".
Deep down, it feels wrong that Florida has major wildfires. The state is so damn soggy that that you might as well have gills for all the good breathing does you in 95%+ humidity. What isn't squishy, water, or limestone in Florida is cypress pine, which is better known as Mother Nature's roman candle. Don't worry, I doubt you'll ever know a fire happened within three months, a year tops. Perhaps there will be a few less pine trees and Eckardses, but they both grow back ridiculously fast.
