It Is Official
Jun. 5th, 2008 12:03 pmAs of June 26th, I will no longer be an employee of Lawrence Livermore Nat'l Lab. On a positive note, I am dictating the terms of my exit which means I have volunteered to be laid off in the upcoming unpleasantness, thus saving someone else's job, and I will get a severance package I wouldn't otherwise get.
Why would I do this you might ask?
Because on June 30th I start my new job as a health physicist at UC Berkeley. It pains me to leave the Secret Squirrel Fun, but I desperately need to be using my degree at the professional level I need to be working at. Besides, as I said to folks who nodded vigorously, I'm leaving the Lab but it's not like I've disappeared. In a year or two, if they've got something shiny for me I will be more than happy to come back to the nuclear security fold.
*sigh* but yay!
