The Perils Of Pet Ownership
Jun. 17th, 2008 07:38 pmSo, I have a brand new AT&T modem and wireless router now. While I have been quite content to have my desktop linked to the DSL modem and let all laptops mooch from the neighbors for a year or so, no more! Great change has occurred this day. What brings on this momentous leap forward to 1999 home of the future?
The answer: kitties.
There I was, minding my own business and overextending my lunch hour chatting with folks, when there came a clink of glass, a mighty crash, a sudden loss of internet, and then the scampering of terrified cats from the kitchen. When I went to investigate, I found a 1L reagent bottle on its side and no worse for wear. My cable modem was not so lucky. It was on the floor, broken in half, with the jack ripped out of it and still connected to the wire. I suspect the larger more oafish of the two cats got caught in the wire while running around with the cat crazies and caused the damage.
$80 and a visit to AT&T later, who seemed confused by the idea of someone being there who wasn't trying to buy an iPhone, I have internets again and have fulfilled a home improvement request.![[profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)

In other news, a belated birthday gift fromlocopuff is the culinary coup of the new millenium. Perhaps of all millenia. I have hickory and pepper flavor. Grits & eggs have never tasted better. Note that it is kosher. Take that Leviticus!
