Winter is far more booze soaked than summer at Pole and McMurdo. Having not seen NZ's Scott Base in the winter I can't definitively speak, but based upon the NZ personnel's summer behavior...
As last American standing and thus the only one worthy to drink with them, they gave me the Plunger of Honorand some pretzel sticks. This is not the sign of sane and sober minds.
