Dear [livejournal.com profile] atomic_robo,

I am concerned about the shielding of your power plant, which I can only assume to be nuclear. Do innocent bystanders need to fear for accidental exposure in the course of being rescued from Doom?

Also, concerning your creamy fire retardant filling, I can only assume it to be asbestos based considering the age of your construction. If your power plant is indeed nuclear, it seems reasonable that elements of your construction will be alloys of beryllium. Beryllium moderates neutrons well, is light, conducts heat splendidly, has amazing tensile strength and, of course, is cancer causing.  Is there a high incedence of mesothelioma, chronic beryllium disease, asbestosis and radiation sickness among your helpful maintenance monkeys?  How large a personnel department is required to keep your maintenance bay fully staffed?

I am ever Government Man Come From The Government,

Dr. Funranium

Good questions.

Do innocent bystanders need to fear for accidental exposure in the course of being rescued from Doom?

I am not at liberty to divulge the exact nature of my internal power plant. It's the kind of vital information that could be used by My Enemies. I meet all EPA standards and emit nothing overtly toxic -- if only the same could be said for you bags of gas and poop.

To be perfectly frank, we aren't exactly sure what would happen in case of a core breach, though most simulations predict damage would be localized. Given the history of extremely dangerous things that have thus far failed to make such a breach despite many fevered attempts (rampaging cyborg-apes included), me exploding would suddenly be the least of your worries.

Also, concerning your creamy fire retardant filling, I can only assume it to be asbestos based considering the age of your construction.

The "goo" is a fairly recent addition. I have no idea what it's made out of and it didn't seem like a bad idea to let them inject me with some until I just said that now.

How large a personnel department is required to keep your maintenance bay fully staffed?

At any given time there's a couple dozen techs, engineers, and mechanics on call. It sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders and we're always looking for top men. You'd have to relocate to a giant, top secret flying fortress and divorce your previous life, but I here it's got excellent medical coverage.
