Often I have lamented the lack of proper gambling in California. I have ranted about the heap big revenge upon the white man known as the Indian casino. In particular, more than their pound you in the ass odds and screwing with rules, it annoys me that the Injuns don't offer craps. This, until recently, I thought was born of the fact that the game is hard to screw with and has less variants.
I've also said that the day California legalizes Nevada style gaming is the day Nevada shuts down. Really, you let us build proper casinos in Santa Cruz, Nevada's population drops to 212, and then there's no problem with Yucca Mountain. This is proably why the State of Nevada spends a lot of money to support the California anti-gambling lobby.
But, time marches on. The Harrah's Casino Group runs the casino at Rincon Ranch outside of San Diego and they did their best to replicate Vegas gambling. A search on the web shows that they are the only casino in California to offer craps.
Oh, but it's not normal craps. It is some kind of retarded mutant called California Craps (we should feel lucky they didn't spell it with K's I suppose) that involves cards to represent die rolls. The question of course is, "Why can't we use dice?"
Go here and read this 2004 advisory from the California Divsion of Gambling Control.
Dice are illegal in California. They got arround it by using two sets of cards, Ace thru 6. By this reasoning, it is also forbidden to play D&D for money. Dammit.
And now I have been exposed to a commercial for "myscene My Bling Bling" dolls by Mattell. Apparently Barbie needed to be whored up a bit more.
Time for bed.
