A Contemplation Of Florida

A while back, and again while watching the torrential rainstorm last wednesday in Melbourne, a thought came to me that I have decided to pose to the internet.  It goes a little something like this:

There are plenty of cycles and adaptations I have been told over the years where plants and animals in India and southeast Asia take advantage of the monsoon.  I can't think of anything similar on the eastern seaboard or the Caribbean that takes advantage of the hurricanes.  Adapted to endure, yes.  Actively using hurricanes, perhaps even needing it, for benefit, no.
