ph3@r my 1337 web programming sk33lz!
Dec. 28th, 2009 07:35 pmIt is all toxgunn's fault. I have started playing with Seamonkey doing website development because he gave me two domains for Christmas, www.funranium.com and www.funraniumlabs.com. I believe the exchange might have gone something like this:
P: "What's this?"
T: "Two domains for you."
P: "What do I do with them?"
T: "You make websites for them."
P: "The fuck do I know about making websites?"
T: "Oh, you needed another hobby anyway."
So, I am learning using the free and seemingly simple tools of Seamonkey, a bit of Mozilla software I didn't know exist until I had a urinal epiphany on Boxing Day that made me decide to see what the nice creators of Firefox might have thought up for me. Of course, making a website requires content and things graphical which has in turn demanded that I fire up the Adobe suite I've kept at terrified arm's length for years. It is a very steep learning curve and many are the buttons and fiddly bits that make me reach for the whiskey bottle to make the hurting go away. However, I have figured out how to create title banners worthy of a good heavy metal album. If LJ would let me upload photos, I'd share.
And thus, I start learning the hot must have job skills of 1997.
