Why Isn't Anyone Else Laughing?

Just a brief observation after going to see Dark Knight on IMAX. There were more than a few occasions that the Joker would make a threat which would prompt me to laugh. I couldn't help but notice mine was the lone chortle in my general area. I think that this may be a manifestation of being the DM For Life since 5th grade.
Or maybe it was some really good black humor no one else was getting. I remember that a lot of people thought Ravenous was a horror movie, but that
