Why Isn't Anyone Else Laughing?

Just a brief observation after going to see Dark Knight on IMAX. There were more than a few occasions that the Joker would make a threat which would prompt me to laugh. I couldn't help but notice mine was the lone chortle in my general area. I think that this may be a manifestation of being the DM For Life since 5th grade.

Or maybe it was some really good black humor no one else was getting. I remember that a lot of people thought Ravenous was a horror movie, but that blark and I thought it was the best comedy of that summer.

I thought the Joker was both scary and funny; a much darker funny than Jack Nicolson's Joker. I did notice that Bruce and I laughed quite a bit more than the people in front of us at the show.
I vote for black humor.

I remember laughing long and hard at his second "origin" story. Was fairly solitary in doing so. What is strange is the number of film critics who keep talking about the Joker as a product of child abuse, and seem to have missed the point entirely.

I wonder if the reviewer, with their very precious time and so many movies to review, simply walked out after that thinking they had a good enough flavor of the movie having seen all the characters. Perhaps they started composing their review right there in the theater after that scene. Imagine what a review of Dune would be like if the reviewer had stopped watching after the Harkonnen assault on Arrakeen.

In other news, I've got Araina watching Twin Peaks and savoring every minute of juicy Lynchian goodness. Whiny pussy biker still annoys the shit out of me; it's nice to know some things never change.
